Vantage Cruise Lines Builds First Ocean Cruise Ship • Cruise Maven

Vantage Cruise Lines recently announced their plans to build their first ocean cruise ship.   If the name isn’t familiar to you, Vantage Cruise Lines has been operating Europe river cruises with their own river ships since 1999.

With their first small ocean cruise ship, it’s an exciting time for Vantage.  Named Ocean Explorer, the new ship is scheduled to launch in March 2021 as a luxury global expedition ship.

Ocean Odyssey, sister ship to Ocean Explorer, has a launch date sometime in 2022.

Ocean Explorer for the solo traveler

Vantage has always been an advocate for the solo traveler, especially solo female travelOcean Explorer will have 77 staterooms, 15 of which will be solo studio staterooms.  There will even be a handful of solo staterooms with balconies.  All totaled, the ship can accommodate up to 170 guests.  Most other cruise lines’ expedition ships don’t have solo staterooms and charge a hefty solo supplement.

“We are thrilled to add this new small ship ocean cruising vessel to our fleet, and to surround our Vantage travelers in ultimate luxury as they explore their dream destinations,” said Henry R. Lewis, Founder & Owner, Vantage Deluxe World Travel. “The Ocean Explorer will be a ship that caters to those who appreciate relaxed casual luxury, but who also enjoy the thrill of exploration and adventure.”

Where Ocean Explorer will go

In its inaugural year, the luxurious Ocean Explorer will travel the world.  Beginning in Asia, the ship will cruise Europe followed by a transatlantic crossing to North America.  Voyages continue down to Central and South America, and finally to Antarctica.

Ocean Explorer will be equipped with the latest in satellite and navigation technology including an ULSTEIN X-Bow.  This will allow the ship even deeper exploration into packed ice.

The ship’s design will feature panoramic views from the multilevel observation lounge and lobby.  Onboard activities include a swimming pool with outdoor movies on the deck, nightly curated lectures, programs, musical performances, and cultural events.

Additional amenities include:

With expedition cruising quickly becoming the latest trend, it will be interesting when Ocean Explorer joins the conversation.
